Creator God is in Control

A few days past its fullness, the lesser light hangs high in the inky sky causing the trees to cast their shadowy arms across the backyard. If life has taught me anything, it's that circumstances change in the half space of a whisper of time. It whips you around hairpin curves at breathtaking speed, hurtles you towards nooks and crannies that cause the adrenaline to surge with the unknown, and causes us to desperately seek a place to stabilize and regain our illusion of control. Mountaintop vistas full of joy give way to the grind of trudging through the valley of trial and soon the cycle begins again.

But God.

Jehovah Jireh, Provider of all that we will ever need, Creator of the universe, He calls forth the stars by their name and holds them in the balance with the span of His hand. The train of His robe fills the temple and His footstool is the circle of the earth. Creator of all things, the sovereign God, the One who lavishes love, grace, and forgiveness upon His children, knows each one intimately, and has inscribed the believer’s name upon the palm of His hand. A sovereign God, He is the beginning and the end, and has defeated death for all time through His death and resurrection. One day, the arch angel will give the shout, the trumpet of God will sound, those who are dead in Christ will rise first, and the rest of His believers will be caught up to meet Him in the sky.

What a glorious day that will be!
